Worth knowing about the 2015 Outback

  • LED lighting. The brake light, tail light are sealed LED units with no user-replaceable bulb. A failure means replacing the assembly.
  • Bulbs. Models with HID headlamps use a dealer-serviced D4S low beam.
  • Spare. This vehicle carries a compact (temporary) spare.
  • Tire chains. The manual restricts tire chains on this vehicle. The limits are in the next note; read them before you fit anything.
  • Tires. The manual says tire chains cannot be used but allows another traction device such as spring chains if its maker recommends it, and the compact spare is a T155/80R17.
  • Torque. Tighten lug nuts to 89 ft-lbs in a star pattern with a torque wrench, and re-check after the first 50 miles. This figure is from the owner's manual; an impact gun will overshoot it.
  • Key fob. The push-button-start access key takes a CR2032.
  • Roof. The roof rails swing out as crossbars, and the manual sets the load limit by the genuine Subaru carrier's own manual rather than a single figure.
