Worth knowing about the 2019 Avalon

  • Wipers. The connector type is not confirmed, so choose blades listed for this model.
  • LED lighting. The low beam, high beam, rear turn signal, brake light, tail light, reverse light are sealed LED units with no user-replaceable bulb. A failure means replacing the assembly.
  • Bulbs. Every exterior light is a sealed LED unit; the manual lists only interior bulbs.
  • Spare. This vehicle carries a compact (temporary) spare.
  • Tires. The manual allows tire chains only on 17-in. tires (front only) and says they cannot be mounted on 18- and 19-in. tires, and the compact spare is a T155/70D17.
  • Torque. Tighten lug nuts to 76 ft-lbs in a star pattern with a torque wrench, and re-check after the first 50 miles. This figure is from the owner's manual; an impact gun will overshoot it.
  • Key fob. Match the FCC ID (HYQ14FBE) printed on the back of your fob when buying a replacement; the same car can use two fob designs in one year. A new fob still needs programming to the car.
  • Dimensions. The figures above are for the XLE; other body configurations differ in length, wheelbase and weight.
  • Fuel. The 14.5-gal tank is for front-drive models on 17-in. tires; the manual gives 16.0 gal for front-drive models on larger tires.
