Worth knowing about the 2018 Avalon
- Connector. Both front blades use a j-hook connector. A blade of the right length with the wrong connector will not clip on, so check the connector before you buy.
- LED lighting. The fog light, brake light, tail light, license plate are sealed LED units with no user-replaceable bulb. A failure means replacing the assembly.
- Bulbs. XLE grades use 9005 halogen low beams and the Limited uses D4S HID low beams.
- Spare. This vehicle carries a compact (temporary) spare.
- Tire chains. The manual permits tire chains or cables, within limits on which tires and which wheels. Those limits are in the next note; read them before you fit anything. Search Amazon for tire chains →
- Tires. Tire chains go on the front tires only (the manual sets no tire-size limit), the Limited could be ordered with 17-in. wheels, and the compact spare is a T155/70D17.
- Torque. Tighten lug nuts to 76 ft-lbs in a star pattern with a torque wrench, and re-check after the first 50 miles. This figure is from the owner's manual; an impact gun will overshoot it.
- TPMS. New sensors on this car will not pair on their own by driving; they need a relearn. Method: tool.
- Key fob. Match the FCC ID (HYQ14FBA) printed on the back of your fob when buying a replacement; the same car can use two fob designs in one year. A new fob still needs programming to the car.
- Dimensions. The figures above are for the XLE; other body configurations differ in length, wheelbase and weight.
